Family Help Voice and Participation Leicestershire

Has Family Help supported you and your family recently ?

Would you like to offer your lived experiences to help shape and influence our service?

If so, we have some great volunteering opportunities you can be involved with by becoming a part of our Parent/Carer Advisory Group

Volunteering is hugely valued by Leicestershire County Council's Children and Family Services

Our Voice and Participation roles help us understand what is important to local families, what they like, what their challenges are and what their suggestions are so together we can improve their experiences now and in the future.

What is Voice and Participation and why is it important ?

Voice work is all about listening to families and making sure their experiences shape the services they use. When parents and children are invited to share their views, services become more relevant, responsive, and effective. It’s not just about feedback, it’s about co-creating support that truly fits the needs of real people.

Empowering families through voice work builds confidence and trust. When people feel heard, they’re more likely to engage, collaborate, and contribute. This strengthens relationships between professionals and families, creating a more supportive and inclusive environment. Most importantly, it ensures that everyone, especially those who are often overlooked, has a seat at the table.

Parent and Carer Advisory Group

Are you a parent or guardian of a child age 0-19 (25 if SEND) and living in Leicestershire who has received support and guidance from our Family Help Team?

We're keen to hear from a group of parents on a range of different topics that will help managers when they are making decisions.

Commitment can be as little as 3 times a year, or more if you have time. Meetings can be face to face or online.

Travel expenses can be discussed.

We have three opportunities and you can find more information in the drop downs below

Give us your feedback in a consultation group

A relaxed space where your voice helps shape local family services. No jargon, no pressure — just real talk, good ideas, and maybe even a biscuit or two 🍪.

Whether you’ve got a little one in nursery or a teen at home, your experiences matter. Pop in, speak up, and be part of the change.

Full training and support is given

Become a Mystery Shopper

mystery shopper is a parent/carer who poses as a service user to evaluate the quality of service  we provide and their overall experience when visiting a Family Hub based project in Leicestershire

Previous Mystery Shops have involved

  • Community Fridges. As a result of the feedback we improved signage to family hubs. A post card was also create to gain more regular feedback for families visiting community Fridges.
  • Family Hub centres to look at customer service, signposting to service and if the screens were shown to families to access the Family Hubs website.

This gives parents/carers an active role in shaping our service by conducting the visit/activity and giving us feedback.  User feedback aids quality assurance and informs our service delivery and plans. This is a valued part of participation. Key findings, trends and reports are shared to make service improvements if needed
