Do you know an exceptional young person who deserves to be recognised?

The Lord-Lieutenant of Leicestershire’s Awards for Young People celebrate the outstanding achievements, creativity and commitment of young people aged 13 to 19 from across Leicester City and Leicestershire.

Whether they have shown remarkable courage, given their time selflessly, led others with confidence, or expressed themselves through the arts, this is your chance to help them gain the recognition they deserve.

Award categories

Nominees can be put forward for one of four award categories:

  • Young Person of Courage
  • Young Volunteer
  • Young Leader
  • Young Artist of the Year

Young people must live in, or be in full-time education in, Leicester City or Leicestershire.

  • Young Volunteer of the Year & Overall Young Person of the Year 2025: Grace Dhesi, selected by the Lord-Lieutenant of Leicestershire, Mike Kapur OBE CStJ
  • Young Person of Courage 2025: Joshua Bates, Dorothy Goodman Sixth Form
  • Young Leader 2025: Piper Sinclair, Cadet Regimental Sergeant Major of Leicestershire
  • Young Artist of the Year 2025: Alex Budding, De Lisle College.
