The deadline to apply for a primary or first school place is 15 January 2026.
Applying on time gives families the best chance of securing a preferred school. Late applications are processed after those submitted by the deadline, which may reduce your chances of your preferred options.
What you need to do:
- Apply online via the Parent Portal www.leicestershire.gov.uk/admissions
- List at least 3 schools (up to 5 maximum)
Include one in your catchment area to improve your chances of a local place. Please note, choosing only one school does not increase your chances of getting that place. - Check your order of preferences carefully as applications are processed in the order you list them.
- Press ‘Resubmit’ if you make changes as updates won’t save unless you resubmit.
- Apply before 15 January
Applications submitted after this date will be processed later, reducing the chance of securing a preferred school. - Stay Organised with the school application checklist
